Jemima Nunoo – Chair

Dr. (Mrs) Jemima Nunoo is a Lecturer with over 17 years of teaching experience at the Tertiary level. She teaches Leadership (undergraduate and executive levels) and Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility at the Business School of Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration (GIMPA). She has also facilitated programmes for various organisations including the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Databank and DANIDA. Dr Nunoo was the Speechwriter and Principal Researcher for Ghana’s former president, John Agyekum Kufuor and was instrumental in the establishment of the John A. Kufuor Foundation for Governance and Leadership. She also served as a Research Fellow at the Institute for Democratic Governance (CDD).

Professor Adriano Alfredo Nuvunga

Professor Adriano Alfredo Nuvunga, Ph.D., is a scholar and leading civil society activist in Mozambique. He is the director of the Centro para a Democracia e Desenvolvimento (CDD), a civil society organization working on Democratic Development and Economic Governance in Mozambique, focusing on youth agency. Until May 2018, Prof. Nuvunga was the director of the Centre for Public Integrity (CIP), a reputable anticorruption civil society organization in Mozambique. Prof. Nuvunga teaches Political Science and Governance at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Mondlane Mondlane University in Maputo, Mozambique. He also teaches the Extractive Industries, Anticorruption and Human Rights Nexus at the Technical University of Mozambique (UDM).

Ikal Angelei

About 7 years ago, what began as a part-time research and a social media advocacy to save Lake Turkana, evolved into an environmental justice and a community rights role through citizen-activism and environmental advocacy. The Founding Director of Friends of Lake Turkana, Ikal Angelei, is an environmental thinker, activist, philosopher of science and ecological policy advocate who has key interest in Environmental justice, Resource governance and Community rights. She has the specific belief that development is for the people and thus, this development cannot in any way be an injustice to the very people it is meant for. Her interests include Political Ecology, analyzing the politics and human ecology of ecosystems management, and the institutional aspects of natural resource governance.

Daniel Gbondo

Daniel Gbondo is the Mining Policy Advisor at the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources in Sierra Leone. Prior to this role, he served as the Natural Resource Management Advisor to the Chief-of-Staff in the Office of the President, as well as the Environmental and Social Performance Advisor at the Millennium Challenge Coordinating Unit, also at the Office of the President of Sierra Leone. Trained as a Sociologist, Daniel started his career as a peace builder in Sierra Leone during the country’s civil war years, playing key roles in facilitating dialogue among rebel commanders and Commanders of the Government Army. He later worked as a Resident Senior Program Officer at the US-based National Democratic Institute (NDI) before taking up the role of Country Representative at the Foundation for Environmental Security and Sustainability (FESS), also based in the US.

Benjamin Boakye

Benjamin Boakye

Benjamin Boakye is an Energy Governance Professional and the Executive Director at the Africa Centre for Energy Policy. Prior to Becoming the Executive Director, he served as the Deputy Executive Director, Programmes Director and Operations Director, managing the Research Unit and the Programmes Unit. He has made contributions to the extractive sector governance in Ghana and in Africa, with much focus on corporate governance, institutional development, fiscal governance, contract governance and the evolution of legal framework for the effective management of extractive resources. He has also consulted for the World Bank Group, UNDP, and many research institutions in the resource sector. Benjamin has delivered presentations at various international conferences on the extractive sector, particularly on revenue generation and expenditure. He works with host communities, analyzing the communities’ issues relative to the development of extractives’ projects and revenue redistribution. He also has extensive experience on power sector reforms.
