About the Future of Energy Conference

With the legacy of the Africa Oil Governance Summit (AOGS) shaping the way, the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) is proud to introduce the Future of Energy Conference (FEC). Building on AOGS’s foundation, FEC ushers in a new era of exploration and dialogue, focusing on Africa’s energy future.

The Conference’s primary objective is to examine Africa’s energy needs and the range of technologies and resources that can sustainably reduce energy poverty and advance industrial growth. FEC thus creates an avenue for stakeholders within and outside the energy industry across Africa and beyond to deliberate on efficient and effective approaches to engender sustainable and inclusive development towards the energy future. The discourse will focus on the continent’s view of the energy transition, examining the potential risks and identifying solutions that drive economic beneficiation.

Resource Abundance, Sustainable Choices and Innovation: Shaping Africa's Energy Landscape.
Based on discussion points from the Conference, ACEP will collaborate with experts and relevant stakeholders to develop a policy document that comprehensively assesses Africa’s energy needs and the range of technologies and resources that can sustainably reduce energy poverty and advance industrial growth. The policy document will advise African governments on regulatory reforms and strategic pathways for Shaping Africa’s Energy Landscape.
The conference will host five key panel sessions, interspersed with keynote speeches and paper presentations on issues focused on the theme. The discussions seek to proffer policy alternatives and critical measures available to governments, the private sector, and citizens to be key players in the transition economy considering the local context, leveraging unique strengths and opportunities for intra-continental trade. The Conference will be held in person with provisions for online participation.
