CONFERENCE REPORT

Future of Energy Conference 2025

The Future of Energy Conference (FEC) is the annual flagship event of the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP), providing a continental platform for bold dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration to advance policy and innovation for Africa’s sustainable energy future. Each year, the Conference brings together policymakers, industry leaders, civil society, academia, and development partners to address critical governance challenges and practical strategies for building inclusive and resilient energy systems.

The 2025 edition, held from 26–27 August 2025 under the theme “Financing Africa’s Energy Future: Unlocking Investments for Energy Access and Economic Transformation,” reframed Africa’s energy transition as an ownership and productivity agenda. The Conference advanced practical pathways for mobilising Africa’s estimated US$3–4 trillion in domestic financial assets as catalytic capital for clean energy investments. Strong emphasis was placed on inclusion, with youth, women, and local innovators recognised as central actors in shaping a just and homegrown energy future.

Anchored in improved policy coordination, regional value-chain development, and strategic risk-sharing, FEC 2025 positioned energy as a driver of competitiveness, innovation, and inclusive growth rather than continued dependence on external donor support. The Conference concluded with the presentation of Action Points, offering clear and actionable recommendations to guide stakeholders in advancing sustainable and equitable energy solutions across Africa.
