ACEP Radar: August - September 2025

Methane poses both a climate challenge and an energy opportunity for Ghana. As natural gas powers most of the country’s thermal plants, effective methane management offers a dual benefit by first protecting the environment while enhancing energy security. Through investment in efficient gas management and commercialisation, Ghana can reduce emissions, stabilise fuel supply, and strengthen economic resilience thus turning climate responsibility into strategic advantage.

In this issue, we explore how effective methane management can offer both climate action and sustainable development. Also, we share key highlights from the Future of Energy Conference, where discussions underscored that true energy access goes beyond grid connection to issues of human dignity, equity, and opportunity as well as the AFREIKH 2025 Summer School on the Governance Industries in Anglophone Africa. We also introduce the Cohort 9 of the NextGen Leaders Program, who are redefining resource governance across Africa through critical thinking, research, and innovation.
