In this issue of ACEP RADAR, we explore how Africa can move from responding to the global energy transition to actively shaping its own energy, industrial and extractive future. Across our programmes and engagements, we examine what it will take to turn Africa’s energy and mineral resources into greater value, industrial development and inclusive economic opportunity.
The issue highlights ACEP’s engagement with students and emerging professionals on energy transition, resource governance and Africa’s development priorities, alongside the graduation of the first cohort of 24 young women trained in clean energy technologies through the Green Energy Technology Capacity Development Programme. We also look at the launch of new guidelines for managing fugitive methane emissions in Ghana’s petroleum sector and ACEP’s continued work to strengthen transparency and resource governance across Africa.
We also reflect on the Future of Energy Conference 2026, which brought together more than 1,000 participants from 60 countries to examine how energy systems can power Africa’s industrial transformation and competitiveness. The issue further highlights the Summer School on Managing Africa’s Extractive Future in the Energy Transition and the launch of ACEP’s Climate Innovation Hub, which seeks to help promising climate and development solutions move from ideas to real-world impact.
