ACEP Radar: June - July 2025

The journey toward a sustainable future for Africa is marked by complex dilemmas that require both urgent action and strategic foresight. At ACEP, we focus on these challenges and drive conversations geared at finding lasting solutions to the challenges that the world grapples with.

This edition of ACEP Radar examines a pressing African dilemma: how can we address hidden climate threats, such as methane, while powering homes and industries? How can nations navigate fiscal pressures to build energy sectors that are both sustainable and equitable?

Ghana’s experience offers a lens into the continent’s broader journey. We explain why methane is a bigger threat than many realize and how addressing it creates opportunities for a cleaner environment. Also highlighted in this edition is Issue 2 of our Debt Tracker, which tracks public debt, a challenge familiar across Africa, and explores the tough questions surrounding financial sustainability. Additionally, we share highlights from key stakeholder engagements, ranging from high-level sector reform dialogues to the launch of Resource Governance Campus Hubs, which empower the next generation of African leaders to champion transparency and good governance.

Finally, we are counting down to our flagship Future of Energy Conference in August, where we will tackle the continent-wide theme of financing Africa’s energy future. We invite you to join the conversation.

Dive in, share your thoughts, and help us build a brighter, fairer, and sustainable Africa, together.
