Big Wins for ACEP at the 7th Ghana Energy Awards: Energy Think Tank and Advocate of the Year

Friday, November 17, was a night of big wins for the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) at the 7th Ghana Energy Awards. ACEP bagged not one but two prestigious awards, earning the titles of Energy Think Tank of the Year and Advocate of the Year, with our Executive Director, Benjamin Boakye, claiming the latter.
The event, under the theme, “Ghana’s Energy Transition Framework: Sector Institutions as Building Blocks for the 2030-2040 Targets,” brought together key industry players, policymakers, civic actors, and other stakeholders to recognize the achievements and successes of the entities in Ghana’s energy sector. Gracing the event as a Special Guest of Honor was His Excellency the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
ACEP’s recognition as the Energy Think Tank of the Year is a testament to the Centre’s unwavering commitment to shaping and informing energy policies, guided by the standards of accuracy, evidence-based positions, and objectivity. Through evidence-based research, policy analysis, capacity development, and advocacy, ACEP has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the complexities of Africa’s energy and extractives sectors. This award affirms our significant role as a thought leader, influencing positive change and driving inclusive, sustainable development.
Against the odds, Ben has fervently fought for the national interest, a testament to his resilience and activism. The Advocate of the Year award presented to him underscores his visionary leadership and tireless advocacy, mirroring the dedication required to ensure a commitment to the interests of the citizenry and the greater good for all. This recognition extends to other advocates and activists alike, dedicated to the common good of their countries and citizens, collectively contributing to positive change within their respective sectors.
